I love unnecessary adjective use:

"buying a filthy coal-fired power station just to use to charge up your mobile phone."

So if I buy a clean coal burning plant to charge my cell that is cool. What about if I buy thousands and thousands of acres of arable farmland, fill it with solar panels to charge my cell phone. Cool then?

Most likely it is a trophy, something to one-up his rich friends.
