masbury says: "Screwing [the economy] up takes a great deal of cooperation." D's blame R's and R's blame D's - but those accusations (and I have made them, too, sorry to say) are far too simplistic to help us fix the problem. Here's a list of contributors to the perfect storm. Excellent thank you I appreciate the effort, masbury, but conservatives aren't convinced by facts. They're having too much fun blaming community organizations and poor people of color for this mess. Factcheck.org is another site that one needs to check the facts on. It's name doesn't give it automatic credibility. It is wrong many times And stop holding the lack of a rule as equally responsible as the illicit and unethical (immoral?) behavior of the wrong doers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hN31-nKndg8 There is a certain human expectation of decent behavior. Faced with such stonewalling, yeah, you're probably right they should have kept pressing and tried to seize the whole GSE, and indicted all the "organizers" on charges. Can you imagine the cries of racism? That's why they were given so much rope to start with. The threat of the charge of racism. The same game I see played right he... Have any of you all seen that eye-opening video showing the issue of the gays trying to take over America? It circulates in churches. People fall for that video, too. I know a rather well-known fellow who has spent his career identifying religious frauds. He is convinced that the simplest way he can think of to make a whole lot of money is to dream up a story of having been a satan-worshiper [or, I might add, a former Muslim terrorist] who has become a Christian, is supposedly under death threats, and does speaking tours in evangelical churches. He knows people who have done this - one claiming fraudulently to be a 3rd daughter of Anton LaVey. And when he alerted the churches who were hosting her and giving her money, they chewed him out for doubting her story and went right on. The story is al... Here's an amusing Halloweeny-type photo of LaVey, by the way (NSFW). You never cease to amaze me, masbury. A Christian pastor defending LaVey against silly fear-mongering? Wowza! Why, thank you very much! davey, I'm sure somewhere there's another video just like this only with D heroes and R scapegoats. Fact is, many on both sides messed up. Surely you know better than to trust this kind of goodguy/badguy mashup. It does remain true, however, that deregulation has been a central part of the Republican platform since Reagan, and not a part of the D's. And it's true that Obama wrote to Paulson warning of impending crisis a year ago last March, just as some Republicans in Congress were doing in this video. And where was John McCain? Pitching deregulation. And insisting - like the Dems in your video - that the economy was strong. Let's not put lipstick on it, or get fanatically anti- this or ... |
