The side effects of the medications were generally far more deleterious than their curative caused serious physical and psychological damage, in essence the cure was worse than the disorder, and very often served to act as a gag. Of course there are exceptions, but these seem to be treatments that have scope for marked improvement
Dr Ramachandran is making what is obviously progress of the most valuable kind, It is replacing blind speculation and Psychiatric hubris, with evidence that is clinically verifiable, productive, and is providing a depth in our understanding of the thinking process, brain function, and consciousness, that we need to understand ourselves in the least. Looking at the brain from the inside, and the outside and comparing.
It's only just beginning. I'm not a doctor, but I refuse to remain ignorant of a disease or disorder that affects me. Researching often shows many more answers.
