As Olbermann said, "the Flintstones is not a documentary."

Baby? Men are dinosaurs! At least on a totally evolutionary scale.

Dinos lasted hundreds of millions of years.

I remember when my children were quite young we were talking about age, I said I felt old and my son pipes up you're not old mommy, and in the next breath asked me if I'd ever seen a real live dinosaur.

I know it must sound ridiculous, but I'm not quite sure about this. I'm totally into evolution, but what if it's true? I googled and found these pics, among others

http://www.bible.ca/tracks/taylor-trail.htm

Also, what if there have been civilizations long before we thought? There are some odd things that still need explaining before I totally dismiss that it [i]could[(i] be true that some kind of human was here at the same time as dinosaurs. (if the photos are authentic that is. Have they been debunked?.) And I need more explanantions to things like this, Read about the "Impossible fossils"

I dunno!..

A bit down the page is a pic with the alleged human footprint inside an alleged dino footprint. That must be what Palin is alluding to anyway. Again.. I dunno.

Dunno either on what to make of it @thisnamecantbetaken. My only issue is with the fundamentalists (like Palin) that try to read the Bible as black and white and hold everything to that.

I just watched "The Man From Earth" and "Epoch" movies and Wow! talk about giving some new thoughts to why and how all this and we are here. The former mentioned movie gives a real twist on the Bible and much else in terms of philosophy.

It would be interesting to know more about the past history (though it seems we humans are not very good at learning from it), but I think the coolest thing is that we have the ability to create the future - hopefully we use the time wisely and make some positive impacts.

Haven't they heard of carbon dating?

I think Palin dated Carbon back in the 60's

The truth of the matter is that Carbon asked Palin to the prom and she didn't want to go and now Carbon is simply jealous.

Carbon. Haha! You guys are crazy.

I'm going to look those movies up, rmowery! I love new thoughts. I watched a movie called Ancient Aliens and that gave new food for thought about the Bible too.

Ya never know!!

the fundamentalists
Indeed! No-one with any education, can seriously, (and I mean seriously and not just faithfully), believe that the earth is only 6000 years old. All evidence points to, that instead of such a young age, humanity may even be waaaay older than we ever imagined!

Was it in a George Carlin sketch, that a fundie, when asked about fossils replied. "God just put them here to test our faith!", to which Carlin replies, "Dude, I think God put YOU here to test MY faith"

That made me laugh.

Thanks on the Ancient Aliens link - this is GREAT and free

BTW -- there was some calc I saw that showed even the Bible proves the earth is billions of years old. I will have to find it, but essentially it was that each of the 7 days (God days) worked on to be so many billion years per day and that x7 gives close to what scientest calced the earth. If one is a fundie they seem to assume the 7 days were 7 actual days as we know them, which is obviously is taking things literally and wrong perspective.

I've never understood the whole "take things literally" silliness. Does faith have to exclude science? Just because one may believe "there's more between Heaven and Earth, than we may know" (I'm try to be PC here, but I count myself among them) that's no reason to leave one's head at the door.

About those 7 days. In the movie link you gave, a lady says at one point (paraphrasing, recalling, etc) "Where were you in 1492??" The caveman answers: "Where were you on this precise day last year?" That puts this whole idea of time into perspective, doesn't it? What is time? What would it be like to an eternal God? Times, eras, ages, days, nights... many references to time in the Bible... Anyway, I...

Oh, my first paragraph is in reference to the fundies, not to you... Haha, I'd better clarify that.. *LOL*
