This is a must read commentary by Adam Greenfield.

"What you get when you swallow too much change too quickly isn’t a mass outbreak of twitching, hebephrenic breakdown, nor some neo-Amish wave of technological renunciation. You wanna know what it looks like? A hockey mom and former beauty queen with an upswept ‘do and a pregnant daughter in high school. Sarah Palin is future shock personified."

Scholar Jean Gimpel wrote an essay in which he compared the rise of post-Roman technology in the Middle Ages to the rise of industrial technology in the US from 1850-1980. One of his conclusions was that the key sign that Americaa had given up on the future was the surrender of the SST rase to britain and France and the abandonment of the space program with the cancellation of Apollo 18 and subsequent flights. These were summed up in a book titles "The Medieval Machine". Good reading.

Interesting to read his quote that "the very real possibility that this willfully ignorant and manifestly unqualified ideologue might ascend to the Presidency " applies exactly to my feeling about Obama and the Presidency.

And anyone who thinks the press gave Sarah Palin a "warm welcome" is so far off into looney leftism they couldn't see anything close to the truth.

Colorado Right, can you please tell me you've objectively watched Obama be interviewed on his view of policy issues and then tell me he is willfully ignorant? I can understand your belief that he is just an ideologue and unqualified to take an executive position. It's an opinion that has merit to many. But Obama is clearly intelligent, well read, has studied history in depth, world politics, understands and remembers details about policy decisions, and knows American Presidential history. He graduated from two Ivy League universities. If you can be objective, he is not ignorant. I dont' view Palin as ignorant, but I do view her understanding of economic and world issues as "beginner".
