How much you want to bet that people are figuring out how to get a hold of this diamond to make money?

OK...
and here I thought all stars become supernovas and ultimately become the murderous and myth-like blackhole (causing the timely destruction of all in the vicinity)
Actually, I hope that no one ever reaches BPM 37093, because when they do the greatest ever Rockefeller will be the residing generations' problem to deal with.
Let us hope whomever is a generous humanitarian...extremely so.

i guess man kind is unable to reach a planet which is 50 lightyears far from out planet in these years though, but if it's possible, something's goin to happen.

"How much you want to bet that people are figuring out how to get a hold of this diamond to make money?"

Presently, the cost of developing the technology to: 1) travel out there, and 2) figure out how to mine the diamond, would in a likelihood dwarf the cost of what they get in terms of sale of goods.

I read this story some time ago, quite interesting...

Well, i guess the result of getting there and bringing diamonds to Earth would just a price drop for diamonds. Just like with silver after Spanish get Incas' gold to the Old World. And don't forget that diamonds do not have great value per se, diamonds cost much because of a clever marketing.

the cost of going there, mining the star and bringing some of it back would probably be greater than the price of terran diamond.
Anyway, people would pay much more to have a diamond that came from outer space anyway so the problem would be solved by itself

There's not enough money on Earth to make this a profitable proposition. The only three scenarios are currently possible assuming the cost of getting out there and back (a round trip) with product would be in the trillions of dollars (I'm basing this on the fact that it costs billions to get to the nearest planet - a one-way trip at that)...

1) They bring back a little bit of product. You think anyone has the trillions to pay for it? NO. It would end up being donated to a museum or lab. side note : In all likelihood it would be stolen by someone without the severe overhead, and THEY would profit from selling it.

2) They bring back a lot of product. That drives down the price by a lot...
