"Civilization" is not necessarily a positive attribute. I know we use the word as a sort of compliment. But remember that the horror of Nazi attrocities arose from the heart of civilized Europe. Whatever: we are the more diminished as humans by failing to attend to present atrocities.

"Civilization"
The word implies goodness and hope. It implies the abscence of savagery and barbarism. What worries me is whats just below the surface. In Darfur, what is exposed should be healed. Really makes you wonder where are priorities are.
