Gygax was 69 when he died - a pretty good roll when you're trying to hit a troll with a two-handed sword, but much too young to leave the real world behind. As for the fantasy worlds he created, they have expanded, flourished and become a part of everyday life. And they're all a tribute to the original dungeon master.
