Yes, I'll squeeze them in between breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Oh wait, doesn't football season start tomorrow? Forget it !

Books on CD are always a good alternative. And add The Caine Mutiny to the list while you're at it.

Hawkeye, don't you think that is already enough books for a weekend?

No football for me. But the US Open is this weekend and I'm shellin' a hamper of white acre peas. Ah....It's going to be wonderful.

But also try to fit in "The Kite Runner" and on audio if you can get it. Wonderful story.

jatfla, have you read his new novel A Thousand Splendid Suns? That's on my list.

I remember shelling purple hull peas in my youth. I was excited to learn about the automatic pea sheller, lol.

Yes, I just listened to "A Thousand Splendid Suns"; a powerful book/story. Maybe it's just because I know so little about that kind of life. It's fascinating and so real. It won't disappoint you.

I think I am the only one I know who actually likes to shell peas. It makes me feel so domesticated. :~) plus it gives me a sense of satisfaction and a chance to *sit* without feeling guilty while watching tennis. Growing up, my parents were never idle; always busy. Even typing/surfing on the computer qualifies as being 'busy' in my book. :~)

Didn't John Grisham write The Client? I loved "Catch me if you can."
