Surely no one believes that Russia has any intentions of leaving.

Hello EU. Hello UN. Hello US....etc. The radical Islamic forces and the dictatorial regimes are progressing further and further as the *free world* talks about how unacceptable their aggression is to the World.

The REAL Napster
GORI, Georgia - Russia said Monday it had begun withdrawing from the conflict zone in Georgia, but it held fast to key positions and sent some of its troops in the opposite direction — closer to the Georgian capital.
Russian troops and vehicles roamed freely around the strategically located central city of Gori, Russian forces appeared to blow up the runway at a military base in the western town of Senaki.

There were few signs Russia was following the terms of a cease-fire to end the short war, which has driven tensions between Russia and the West to some of their highest levels since the breakup of the Soviet Union.

So, at least two of us know that this 'cease-fire' talk is a farce. I'm not all that smart, but surely everyone else, ie. the governments of the European countries, know what is happening. How quickly they forget their history.

The REAL Napster
What else is funny is Russia cannot lie for long before the U.S. exposes them. Withdrawing troops and heavy armor are events easily seen by today's satellites.

I doubt Russia invading Georgia was a spur of the moment thing. I'm sure Putin put lots of thought into it and I seriously doubt Georgia is the lone target in Putin's crosshairs.

I have no doubt Putin is eyeing the rebuilding of the old Soviet Union, one little invasion after another.
The real question is just how far will NATO and the EU allow him to go before that line in the sand is drawn?

The whole incident was choreographed to coincide with
the Olympics. Military strategists have said that the Russian troops wouldn't have been able to invade Georgia that quickly if, in fact, the troops and tanks weren't already amassed near that location.

Agree with most of the above analysis. It is hardly a surprise. It makes it all the more strange that Georgia, backed by US and Israeli advisors, should precipitate such a state of affairs with their initial invasion. Meanwhile, the last century's witness of the peoples of Ossetia and Abkhazia sees just one more example of their becoming forgotten pawns in the savage power games of imperial powers.
