Silkweaver says: Increasing computing power 10,000 times — to speeds in the hundreds of petaflops — would allow modellers to study simulations at the kilometre scale, enabling better predictions on the activity of hurricanes and, eventually, the local deep convection that transfers much energy into the upper atmosphere (see 'A real solution?'). This research could then be fed into operational models. I love the notion of massive computing power - but such small differences can have such an impact - the butterfly effect and all - is it really practical? mu hahahaha petaflops ! Climate science like many other sciences is do to with recognizing complex patterns of activity. The more complex the pattern studied, the more computation power needed for accurate simulation. Theoretically even an effect minute as the butterfly effect can be included given enough data and enough computing power. more important to prevent the use of Tesla technology by governments to produce hurricanes, cyclones, earthquakes. Funny how "natural disasters" seem to follow the Pentagon's New Map for regime change, Indonesia, Burma, China, Columbia, Iran, etc.. See "weather warfare". |
