I actually went to Radio Shack and bought a pair of rabbit ears. Now we get channels 4, 5 and 21.

I think I'm ready for a USB TV tuner or something.

Am I reading this right that in 2009 people will need a subscription to cable or satellite service in order to receive broadcasts? That would mean that low-income people who enjoy TV broadcasts now probably wouldn't when this deadline happens.

reply to jklugman: No, that's not correct. I believe what they are saying is that the network channels (NBC, ABC, FOX, etc) will be available for free, but will only be broadcast in a digital format. So, making the one-time investment in the converter box (which the government will be helping low income households buy) is all that will be involved to continue seeing what you the channels you get now without a subscription.
