I think it would do us all a good service to try to understand why the Dems failed us in ending this horrible war, instead of finger pointing, name calling, and blaming. If we had a Republican Congress we'd be in war with Iran by now too. I think we should try to learn from this failure.

Yes, but I think there were some political calculations here. If the Dems tried to end the war (end the war how much?)...well it would have been a battle and raised up energy and attacks against them.

But allowing the war to continue allows the national distress to continue and all the blame aimed at Bush and the warmongering Republicans and neo-cons.

You don't, BTW, need 60% vote to pass legislation in Congress. That was one of the excuses the Dems put out.

Excuses, they don't want to do what needs to be done. The Dems in Congress are so stupid. They should adopted the "poison pill" approach. Make everything about Bush and turn his legacy radioactive, to the point that no Republican candidate would want to be associate with it, even if the GOP base that Bush is one crown short of the second coming. Instead they pander and cave.
