Just a few years ago, the very thought of same-sex marriage was nothing more than the punchline to a bad joke. But little by little over the past several years, people have begun to realize that gay people are just like everyone else. The writer should have just come out and said, "And then, she realised that gays are actually real people, too." Well actually Caleythia, her reasoning was even funnier than the portion I was able to clip. She was saying how these nice neighbours always help her with the mowing of her lawn.
