The surge stopped nothing, they just laid low awhile. The greatest thing that stopped violence was when British troops left Basra. Stop occupation and the violence will gradually settle. Iraq will have to manage itself.

FOX News has fallen back into their pre-"surge" days when finding news about the Iraq war was like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack.  A few months back, the "surge" started to show signs of improving conditions in Iraq and suddenly FOX News discovered there really was a war going on in Iraq.  However, in the past week the violence has taken a dramatic turn for the worse, thus making arguments about the "success" of the Bush policies harder to justify.  Some might even say there has been a news blackout on the Iraq war at FOX News, except for a few mentions by Brit Hume on <EM>Special Report</EM>.
