Socratoad says: "How did he do it? How did Obama become the first Democratic insurgent in a generation or more to knock off the party's Establishment front runner? Facing an operation as formidable as Clinton's, Obama says in an interview, "was liberating ... What I'd felt was that we could try some things in a different way and build an organization that reflected my personality and what I thought the country was looking for. We didn't have to unlearn a bunch of bad habits." The news about him came out too late - that's how he did it. Oh, not that again.... As a fiscally right leaning person I can't wait to vote again for such a competent and thoughtful man. He won on his own terms, and to rsage... if he was some Manchurian Canidate the Clinton machine would have found him out. Get over it, if you don't like him, vote against him. I'm just tired of the bullshit... he's a Muslim, he's a racist, he's not American... blah. What he is is impressive. Give credit where it's due. Well said reimers Clinton machine screwed up. That's all. As for 'impressive', other than his speeches - give some examples. Obama. Best of luck. Rock on. Very well said reimers! There are a lot of impressive individuals in this country. But do we want them to run it? I will agree that he is charming, but, what does he really believe? Guess it doesn't really matter, big business runs our country anyway, right? Hopefully whoever is President his administration will be made up with people who want to move the country in a positive and constructive direction. This is long overdue, and we need to do that. I for one would am looking forward to that. I think Obama is the man that can initiate that. I hope that Hillery would be a real asset to him if they are compatible in regards to moving in a positive direction for the country. One thing for sure is whoever is elected they sure got their work cut out for them and their administration. because he's the man, and our first nominee that actually cares more about his nation and creating peace (not through war!) more than he cares about his own power. the nation was meant to be the people's democracy, but it has become somewhat totalitarian over the years. our presidents have cared little about the well being of the people and have cared mostly about money and power. isn't power the reason they work so hard to become president in the first place?? finally we have a nominee with some common sense. BARACK OBAMA 2008 blobfish - EXAMPLES!!!! Not speeches that sound good, with rev. wright, bill ayers, rezko etc. behind them. That doesn't jive. He doesn't want war? What a noble concept... who in their right mind does? The question I have for you, especially based on the follow-up to our exit from Vietnam, what will happen in Iraq once Obama pulls the troops out? Have you given this much consideration? Based on Obama's comments - clearly he hasn't or he isn't as smart as you think he is. I realize that telling the folks that the war is over is a great stump-speech statement, but getting past the balloons, chanting and fainting - he'll actually have to govern if he gets elected. Speeches are just tha... BARACK OBAMA 2008(RecordSage faints...) @blobfish again, "the nation is somewhat totalitarian" - do you have any idea what that even means? If so - give me an example where YOU personally felt that. Or if you can't - how about people in your immediate circle, in other words not BS you read about or hear from someone you don't know, but actually something that you fully and totally know to be the case? As for our Presidents being about money and power.... that was since a very long time ago... anyone wanting this G*d forsaken job could only do it for power (or if they're insane, perhaps). And money - that's what this country is - a capitalist society, which is about money. If you look at all of the other countries who claim NO... RecordSage, you and I are generally poles apart regarding our political values, that said, to be fair, I must give credit where credit is due so my hat is off to you for the above post. You my friend have done a damn fine job. Very clear, very succinct Thanks Socratoad... just said it the way I see it. @blobfish again, "the nation is somewhat totalitarian" - do you have any idea what that even means? If so - give me an example where YOU personally felt that. Or if you can't - how about people in your immediate circle, in other words not BS you read about or hear from someone you don't know, but actually something that you fully and totally know to be the case?Wow, it's been awhile since I've heard anyone say that. Thank you. Americans need to stop being so stupid, open their eyes, and see what's really going on in the world around them. finally we have a nominee with some common sense.Funny, this is what most people thought about Bush 8 years ago. Now look where we're at. As for our Presidents being about money and power.... that was since a very long time ago... anyone wanting this G*d forsaken job could only do it for power (or if they're insane, perhaps). And money - that's what this country is - a capitalist society, which is about moneyMost Americans are paying very dearly for the Iraq fiasco. A very select few made a LOT of money out of Iraq, and none of their kids DIED making this money. Follow the money. Who started the invasion? Who lied and deceived to the American people? Who wants the same again? Who wants CHANGE? Change in the right direction! |
