The modern christian churches are corrupt and easily deceived by feigning christian leaders. But some of the comments above imply a socialist and distorted view of both scripture and government which communists advocate as their "collectivism" agenda, where all are forced to financially take care of one another under a maternal government system that destroys freedom by removing individual responsibility for commune style society. The political right neocons advocate Fascism while the Left advocates Communism (mandatory health insurance, social security, welfare, heavy taxation for "the common good"). The constitution advocates freedom and individual responsibility and the Bible advocates...

So, what you are saying here, is we should govern in accordance with what Jesus said? I just am unclear as to what you are conveying with this clip. If the clip is meant to scorn the religious right for not adhering to biblical law, or merely pointing out their hypocrisy for their failure to make religion rule our government and make laws accordingly, as oppose to the Constitution or the Bill of Rights (which they are doing a pretty good job ignoring as it is). What I guess I am asking is, do you want Jesus' word to supercede our present laws?

I think all of you are missing the point. Jesus, in his teachings, meant and said numerous times that these things are things of the heart. Now, when we start looking for a government to care for us that is way out of line. Or if we expect other people to meet our needs that also is out of line. If each one of us, every individual, begins to take these teachings into their heart and soul there will be no argument about who's right or wrong, weak or strong, rich or poor, Right or Left. That is where we as humans fail. We tend to focus on the material things, the status things and the political things that dis-please God. I for one will never claim to be perfect nor close to perfect, but I do ...

"America more Christ-like"? I thought America was not a "Christian nation"...which, in fact, it isn't. So why is anyone demanding that they adhere to Christian principles?

At one time, the United States based it's government and rule of law on the tenets of the Scriptures. It does it no longer. So what's the deal?

Are Christians within their countries to espouse and practice Christ's teachings? Yes. But we could argue for hours over the interpretation of those teachings. There are so-called Christian teachers who are touted as mainstream...but they are not! They are deceivers, apostates, and false teachers. We know them and recognize them for what they are.

Don't expect the unsaved to adhere to that or Whom they do not know.

As I understand it, the eternal Christ is forever despised and condemned, suffering and crucified. He lives with sinners, downcast, the rejected and vulnerable. he forgives and prays for his chirpy tormentors. Thus America is a marvellous environment for Christianity.

Wow, some sold a batch of bad crack here- bottom line for me is -
fuck with deb and I find out where you park your car-
this is too crazy, theres nothing communist about expecting our tax dollars to help those of our citizens that don't have six figure incomes, and It's an opinion- not dogma. I happen to agree but I'm not gunna believe that the statements presented here in this clip are "all representative", but it does hold water more often than not- Christianity is for me a practice of "loving your neighbor". Everything else is dogma and therefore flawed as the human that created them are.

America is not a Christian nation.. and most people who call themselves Christians are not the least bit like Jesus. They're consumers. Their God is $$$. They think Charity is making tax deductible donations to worthy causes. They think Christianity is about moral rectitude, family values, prayer in schools, celebrating Christmas, pro-life, regulating sex to marriage, winning back America, their personal peace, and escaping hell.

If Jesus came back today, most of so-called Christian America would condemn him as a radical, left-wing, liberal hippie.

I searched the source for the answer to this "why" but then I finally found it right here under blueridge's comment. Oh it is because Jesus was a communist, I got it now.

Hey, it's true! You really can take anything out of context and mold it into social discourse... My sociology professor was right!

For answers to your questions, go read the Bible and analyze the context of Jesus' teachings.

judging by the freak show in "God on My Side" by - Andrew Denton, the bible belters associate the downfall of Israel to the END (in Bible prophecy), and that the US should stop at nothing to preserve and protect the nation of Israel-

If Jesus .... Then why ..... ?
is a very good Question, deb.

because, along human history till these very days, so very few would dare follow or be like Jesus, my dear, and masses of people from all classes and status, from all different colors and races - would & do come follow a Church.

But Jesus and Church are not one & the same.
Jesus would never acknowledge any church.
and we got so many of those, and so few of this .....
so we are left with:
"if Jesus .... then Why ...... ?" for God's sake.

Right wing and Jesus in the same sentence is funny. You need to talk money, something Jesus did not have. Self sacrifice, love, compassion, and helping the poor was his deal. You will never see a right winger doing that, GOD forbid. Seen it for decades people. Social Justice is what Jesus stood for; the Romans crucified 10,000 in one day, who does that remind you of? The poor, needy, and No Child Left Behind.LOL

Aw it's easy dirish
Just find an article you like and then go to the paper-clip icon and click on it and go into clip mode, scroll down and highlight the parts of the article you want to clip (there is a character limit
Then click save, title it, and put some tags on it and voila! You have created your first clip. Also, since you are a musician, you might be interested in clipping some interesting music from you tube if available. Just go to you tube and scroll down to the video, high-light it and it will give you the option to clip the video. I'd be real interested in seeing what kind of music you are into
