To me, this is the scariest "political" situation out there. I can't imagine a society with that kind of imbalance.

And add to that the face that China is HUGE population-wise, and a rising superpower. And not exactly our best friend.

I am sure they should not worry. In 20 years, if cloning is not a common place thing, I will be surprised. Thus it will be feasible to clone enough females to balance the population, there or anywhere else.

Hard to imagine 50 million Chinese men walking into a store and picking Model a b or c for their clone wives. Would be hell telling the kids apart not to mention the wives

I hate the idea of sounding sexist but... In my experience at least men are more prone to violence, women are a calming, rational, moderate influence. I think of it as a basic fact that a man is more of a gentleman when he is under the influence of a woman.

Sure it's not 100%, not even close. But it's the "norm." At least in my experience.

Even if you discount that, simply having 30 billion frustrated men spells trouble.

I guess there is another way to look at it too....

If the population swings so that it is a vastly homosexual population - what political ramifications does that pose?

Simple solution to this: one wife for every two men . But somehow I don't think guys would like the idea of sharing their wife with another man, esp. if that other man is screwing your wife!

30 million angry, frustrated men with no hope of getting laid...what a disaster. China will have to start a war and hope that some of these men bite the dust, or can steal a wife from Vietnam or India.

The sad part about that suggestion is that many parts of India are facing a female shortage as well. maybe China should get together with India & think of some way to remedy this together
