Actually, now that i think on it, I'm most productive when listening to APC/Tool/NiN/Deftones/etc... I also find Depech Mode & other synth-pop/synth-rock groups like Orgy, etc help too :|

People usually work better when they listen to music they like and know. I usually listen to metal when studying. But I'm sure a trance fan would work better listening to trance than rock/metal.

In short, I'm skeptical to the methods used in this research. There wasn't enough in the article to say anything though. And no link to published results.

I agree with warbird: the point is not that a particular kind of music has the Mozart Effect , the fact is that we work better (or at least happily) with the music we love (doesn't matter if it is classical music, rock or pop).

Nevertheless it will be interesting to know where are the limits between motivation and distraction.
