When the hangings commence, Rove's rope better be extra short so we're sure the job gets done. Make it no longer than Bush's or Cheney's.

As long as they are in public and they wear diapers.

Conyers' pitiful attempt at attention.

So investigating governmental wrongdoing is a "pitiful attempt at attention"? I see. Question is, why can't Rove simple man up and testify and get it over with? Why is he dodging public disclosure?

I think it shows Rove inability to tell the truth and that is the real story here.

Rove's unwillingness to testify under oath also serves as a smoking gun which points to greater misdeeds by his overlords in BushCo.

The answer is simple. If he refuses to testify under oath, hold him in contempt of congress in a jail cell on the kind of meals that "pink panties" sheriff in New Mexico serves his detainees. I think that's stale bread and peanut butter 3 times a day. Sadly, though, no "harsh interrogation" can be allowed. It would only sully the whole outcome.

I think the term used for it a decade ago was 'witch hunt.'

There is a difference, one was an multi million dollar investigation that ended up with nothing more than a hummer in the oval office, the other is a simple request to testify. Again, what is Rove scared off?

The Starr investigation actually resulted in 14 convictions or guilty pleas. To put it in perspective:

- Number of independent counsel inquiries since the 1978 law was passed: 19
- Number that have produced indictments: 7
- Number that produced more convictions than the Starr investigation: 1

So it was the second most productive independent counsel investigation, yet all liberals can seem to remember is the blow job.

And for a bit of irony from the Clinton years:

- Number of congressional witnesses who have pleaded the Fifth Amendment, fled the country to avoid testifying, or (in the case of foreign witnesses) refused to be interviewed: 122

This is not even an investigation by an independent council, at hasn't reached that level, and the last fact you cite shows that the Congress exercised its power. Rove can plead the Fifth or flee the country.

By the way, what is your source for all of this?

Maybe Rove could go bird hunting with Cheney?
