Interesting. I would point out that there is longitudinal research going on in UK to study links between palpitating patients and development of cardiac disease, so some patients become part of the study. I was watching the news tonight and this is what I heard; the woman the governor was accused of paying for sexual services from was referred to as "the woman responsible for bringing down the governor". How can they put the blame on her? Did he not go to her? That to me is wrong. I think that doctors need to emphasize that the patient has the right to refuse tests. I am lucky in that respect; I have 3 great doctors. A few years back I went to a specialist for my COPD. He ordered tests. I did the blood work and the x-rays but totally refused the ABG's. The lab tech kept arguing with me that the MD needed it. I said well he will have to live without it. For those of you who don't know ABG's are arterial blood gasses. They are obtained by inserting a long, thick needle into the patient's wrist, probing for an artery. No thank you. |
