I am not sure its the new 'thing', I think we are limited as people in the way we can predict the future or other worlds, and that is why robots in movies look like human beings, we can't imagine anything else.

But look at computers, how do we input data, mouse and keyboard, how much did it change during recent years? Where is the revolution there? What do you think will be the input methods of tomorrow?

I think voice recognition and eye movements will rule the day.
