communicatrix says: Terrific, incisive essay from political blogger, Lindsay Beyerstein, that explores why she turned down the offer from the Edwards campaign and what place liberal blogging has in the election of an official and the maintenance (or overthrowing) of the status quo. You may need to watch a brief ad to read the entire article if you're not a Salon subscriber Have you read what that one blogger wrote about Christians? Had it been a conservative blogger hired by a republican presidential candidate and he had said the same about blacks or gays or Muslims or some other group from the left, the bloggers wouldn't have to dig up the dirt, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NYT, and the rest of the MSM would be all over it on their own. Well, n2, part of her point in the piece was that it's nutso for any established enterprise to try co-opting the individual voice. The whole point of blogging, liberal or conservative or knitting is to be able to hang your sh*t way out there, w/o the constraints the system, MSM, whatever, puts on you. Those knitbloggers are f*cking outrageous! I guess I'm not exactly sure what your point is. Are you taking the media-is-a-left-wing-tool-except-for-FOX position? As I recall, it took a groundswell of bloggers and YouTube watchers to hit critical mass. The MSM was late to the party, as usual. It's slow and lumbering, like most large bodies. |
