This is a very difficult subject for me. Let me first say I am a meat eater; mostly chicken and pork but occasionally beef. I am also very scientifically inclined. I am, however, not at all comfortable with manufactured food replacing staples of our diet. I would like to trust the science and the good will behind it.

The world is headed, and quickly, towards a major food crisis. Many reports dating back decades have been predicting it and it's common sense to acknowledge that any plot of land, no matter how large can only sustain a finite number of people. With global population exponentially growing, it's only a matter of time before the situation gets critical. We are only speeding things...

With global population exponentially growing, it's only a matter of time before the situation gets critical. We are only speeding things up by using corn for fuel. And so the solution is to clone meat? That's just plain stupid. This is a band-aid solution to a gaping wound of a problem. Frankly, I trust the science, I don't trust the funding… and the funding will guide the results. Last time we let the food industry alter our diets we got high fructose corn syrup and that is wreaking havoc on all of us; as if natural sugar wasn't good enough we had to manufacture it instead.

We should be focused on growing more crops, better usage of land and much, much better dietary education, not cloning meat.
