Hmmmm, i suppose asking them to give up all their worldly goods, go forth and spread the word of the lord , would be asking too much. Some of these people should take a leaf out of Mother Teresa's book.... I love that the investigation is prompted only to ensure the government is getting its cut. Well, they have to pay like the rest of the taxpayers. Why should they get off not paying? There should be a new line added on the plague at the base of the statue of liberty: “The New Colossus,” by the 19th American poet Emma Lazarus. “The New Colossus,” Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door. NEW LINE: AND BRING IT DOWN ON MINISTRIES WHO SWINDLE YE  I used to watch some of those televangelists when I was alone on the graveyard shift. Pretty amusing actually. Then, one night this guy was speaking on the strife in Africa, and I heard this come out of his mouth, "This problem is so wide spread and their need is so great,that God can't do it alone! He needs your dollars, millions of dollars to get the job done". I literally fell out of my chair! I got up, and I almost threw down the little TV, until I realized that it was my own set. To this day I have never watched another one of those shows ever again (except when channel surfing). The VERY NERVE of that guy. And, the stupidity of those who sent in money! At least they get an honest tax... |
