While a rechargeable vehicle is a great choice, it still causes pollution from the generation of the electricity for grid recharging. It's just in someone else's yard.

This is still a hybrid vehicle because the onboard generator uses fuel to recharge. The industry calls it a rechargeable hybrid but that's misleading since the entire propulsion system is electric.

The biggest advantage of rechargeables is the use of coal for power, reducing the use of oil. By charging them off-peak, the efficiency of the entire electrical grid is improved as well (There is always a surplus of power in the wee hours of the morning.).

And it has to cost a fortune with this battery pack if it comes into production!
