This man has shown himself to quite smart politically. Did the swiftboaters real expect that he'd be caught out so easily?

I doubt if they got up a day earlier that they would catch him out. His gang made Hillary's gang look third rate and they'd all the experience.

Most amazing to me is the gullibility of so many of the American people. Something near 10% of Americans still believe he's a churchgoing Muslim!

Righthand, stop with the swiftboat comments. Those swiftboaters were the ones telling the truth. Jeesh! I wonder how many americans think that John Kerry was the one telling the truth despite the overwhelming majority of his shipmates saying he lied.

Overwhelming majority of shipmates? Like the entire crew in his own boat, or the guy that spoke in the book and then recanted his own affidavit or the people that where never there to begin with? Those guys?

SS, you've got to stop listening to Rush. You're ten miles away from the facts here. The swiftboaters have been thoroughly, completely, utterly discredited.

As to the term itself, it's showing up in encyclopedias these days. Michael Kinsley wrote: "Swift-boating's essence is a particular kind of dishonesty, or rather a particular combination of shadowy dishonesties. It usually involves a complex web of facts, many of which may even be true. It exploits its own complexity and the reluctance of the media to adjudicate factual disputes. No matter how thoroughly a charge may be discredited, enough taint remains to support an argument. The fundamental dishonesty is the suggestion that the issue, whatever it is, really matters."

OK, SS, let's put this to bed. Here's the intro to FactCheck.org's statement on it.

Summary
A group funded by the biggest Republican campaign donor in Texas began running an attack ad Aug. 5 in which former Swift Boat veterans claim Kerry lied to get one of his two decorations for bravery and two of his three purple hearts.

But the veterans who accuse Kerry are contradicted by Kerry's former crewmen, and by Navy records.

One of the accusers says he was on another boat "a few yards" away during the incident which won Kerry the Bronze Star, but the former Army lieutenant whom Kerry plucked...

Where's he gone. There's never a swift boat about when you want one. They're very selective in their reading and listening. Zero. Unlike their masters they are only capable of regurgitating the bilge they were fed.

The real pity is that they are incapable of independent thought. What will they do when Obama gets elected? Will it be the blind leading the blind? Now it's the fat cats leading the dumb and blind. Silly boy.

Well, when Obama was nominated I knew nothing about him, so I started researching, and was amazed at what I found, so I put it together and posted it on the Website http://obamascrapbook.com. People seem to really like it. It's had over 5,000 hits this week. It might help you sway some people who've received too many nasty emails about Obama. I hope it does some good. Please help me share it. It's my contribution to the cause. Enjoy
