Interesting how that's what's being taught in our Universities today...it's no wonder they behave as though they've lost their minds.

The Guardian article is worth looking at. Prejudice is ingrained in human nature, and of course purples may detest greens etc. The role of 'institutionalised racism' as a concept digs beneath obvious examples of racism to suggest that power, not skin colour, is what is at issue in the pernicious status quo. Similarly, power and not sex per se, is seen as the underlying important factor in rape and other male dominated sexual abuse. Difficult to defend this view in sniptalk, but it has been around for 40 years or so and even if you intuitively disagree with it, you may find the details interesting.

Should add that at least one university has dumped this 'definition' recently. Think this happens to all ideas on whatever once they become soundbites. But, as I said, there is still much worth looking at in the very many disagreements, criticisms and discussion over the years.
