anyone remembering the explanation why the moon seems so huge? it's got something to do with reflections in the atmosphere, i think.

A picture like this (if it is a photoshopped picture - it might be a painting) simply can't be taken on the earth. A picture with the moon that large would show the sun the same size. Also, the sun can't illuminate that much of the moon when the moon is as close to new as that is (ditto for similar shots in "2001"). Even a 24-hour-old moon isn't quite that illuminated. Try looking for one sometime.
