The Indians who are doing well are certainly happy, the rest trudge on with their lives...no choice

happiness is a state of mind and it has got nothing to do with your materialistic richness or your earnings..

I wouldn't say that Indians are happier than the rest of the world...there is no basis for such a generalised statement...you're right it has nothing much to do with materialism...but in this day and age where everyone's running after newer & more things, I'm sure having money helps to a large extent

I somewhat agree with mugofcoffee and I believe you're referring to a study which recently came out? But I believe it was done for the youths of India, and they're generally happier than the rest of the world (according to that study).
