You know I believe ( in God) , but I can't argue the point-
I think the fact that I won't slam my beliefs into the face of anyone that'll listen, gives me an edge though, my faith is my own as should be the right of every other human being whether they believe or not. But if we hadn't overthrown the status quo by the 17th century, then things would certainly different now wouldn't they?
Imagine Galileo died under house arrest for being right in the face of dogmatic belief- thats about some f@#$&* up
s#$% isn't it- valid point again

As i understand it, the historical Christ was killed not for what he believed in so much as what he criticised - not the political systems, but the dead weight of received orthodoxy, dogma and opinions. I would imagine that in contemplating 'the christ within', christians have a sense of an ongoing struggle against such things. That what was suffered then is suffered now and willingly, as part of being a Christian.

He threw truth into the established traditions of the temple. God was for everybody then and the temple chiefs thought that you had to be able to afford the purity that being in the temple required.
Money changers turned rubles into sheckles, at a profit- ( sin of usury ) and you couldn't go in without the right kind of money. Jesus said that all men pure or impure were allowed entrance into "his fathers" house ( sin of blasphemy ). Pilot nailed him to a tree to control the outraged Jews of Jerusalem to "keep the peace". Today the equivalent would be turning over the tables at the foreign policy dept. I think-
I don't know, but he must have known what he was doing was going to get him kille...
