Some have suggested this is done because they don't want to see her coming back to national or D.C. politics --- not just for the safety and sanity of the nation -- but because they have secret desires to see someone else (their friend or themselves) -- see someone else become the leading voice and figurehead of the Republican Party.

But, well, I live in a part of the country where people have to "have their act together," a bit and people who do so are admired.

This is because if you get in trouble, car breaks down or something, you're going to have to fix the flat or fix the engine or whatever -- or have to be able to walk ten dusty miles or spend the night outdoors.

This is desert, though, not cold Alaska; but it means a certain 'survival awareness,' so nobody who lives here doesn't carry at least one gallon or more drinking wat...

Everybody has a spare tire, basic tools, duck tape, some food, first aid kit, mosquito spray, etc. -- simple things like that, in their car or truck all the time.

Palin looks like one of those folks who's got this all together. She's probably got a wench on her four wheel drive and if she got stuck in mud she'd get herself out. That's more admirable to me that a woman with long fingernails who doesn't know how to work a car jack.

Oh well....she'd be a good neighbor, too. Help you out of the mud if you got stuck and didn't have a wench.

We do, too, live around people with lots of crazy ideas. A neighbor on my left wants to blow up the Middle East with nukes. A neighbor on the right is a survivalist building his underground shelter for 'the last days."

I wouldn't vote for any of them but we'd all help each other out of the ditch.

Plus, I think it's a deliberate distraction, intended to deflect blame from themselves (as others pointed out) and party rivalry and another sample of the sickness of Republican politics and it's all too easy to let the gossip and LIES forget to see what's really going on.

Calling her a Wasilla hillbilly who looted clothing stores from coast to coast...well, that is pretty funny, though.
