rsegoly says: Google released new version (Beta) of Picasa to manage desktop pics, and features like upload to web album, share and geotag on Google Earth. Honestly,I start feeling uncomfortable with Google pushing so many new services, not compatible with what we already have and use. Flickr is very popular, so many pictures are geotagged there, why would I drop it and start uploading to Google? Would it not be great if the two services are integrated, but of course they compete (Goolge & Yahoo), so do we as users gain or lose? I used 30box as calendar, I enjoyed it, Google published their calendar, it looked promising, so I moved, and it seems they published the service just to stop all competitors. Starting to sounds like our good friend Microsoft As for Panoramio, looks like very cool tool 1. You can add pictures tag them and locate over the globe, using online map 2. You can create RSS or KML (Google earth) feeds from any user/tag combination 3. You can comment on any picture, and people can comment yours. 4. The main disadvantage from my point of view was the need to place the picture on the map by clicking on a map, but I found out that if you use the new Picasa by Google, you can locate the picture using Google earth (exact coordinates), and then when you upload the picture to Panoramio, it will recognize the coordination. |
