The truth of the matter is that this problem is most likely caused by out of date screen drivers - I had the problem (severely) for 2 yrs. When I used DriverAgent to find out which drivers were out of date, I couldn't believe just how many needed updating. suffice to say, after updating the problem has since gone away.
