Furthermore, in 1988 she sued Polanski for sexual assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment. Many of the documents are now missing, but a panel of the 2nd District Court of Appeals said

the trial judge in the civil case "found substantial evidence of oppressive conduct by Polanski and a strong likelihood that a jury would find despicable conduct on the part of Polanski."

Don't try to pretend there's some kind of false equivalence or "he said/she said" or "maybe she deserved it" or anything like that. There isn't. Polanski assaulted her, admitted to it to the judge, agreed to a plea bargain to reduce his penalty, and then fled from justice. There is NO equivalency, and attacking his victim is disgusting and dishonorable.

I don't care what the child's parents did or didn't do. I don't care what the child may or may not have said she wanted. I don't care whether she was a virgin or not. HAVING SEX WITH A 13-YEAR-OLD IS RAPE.

Even if you ignore everything else – ignore that Polanski gave alcohol to an underage child, ignore that he gave her a Quaalude, pretend she never said "No, stop" – ignore all of that and you're still left with the fact that Roman Polanski had sex with a 13-year-old child and he knew she was 13 when he did it. Which he admitted in his sworn testimony in court before the judge.

Having sex with a 13-year-old is rape. There is no "what if" or "but maybe". Having sex with a 13-year-old is rape.
