It was suggested to my boy after a battery of tests he took in grade two.
After taking him for second and third oppinions that proved there wasn't anything wrong with him, I vowed never to put him on meds of any kind!
Perhaps we should be prescribing meds to the teachers in the systems- to make their jobs easier without the health risks our children would have if they took the meds!!!

This was just one of the reasons we decided to homeschool our daughter. We fought with her teachers over this, also. They insisted she be tested and they didn't get the results that they expected or wanted. One of her teachers had 9 out of 27 kids on Ritalin. That's outrageous!

I recently saw an article that suggested that it is much more socially acceptable to drug your children than to spank.

In my opinion, loving and consistent discipline at an early age could easily eliminate the anti-social/disciplinary problems that teachers harp about. Of course that involves commitment to parenting; teaching and training your children. Frankly, for some, it's easier to give a pill.
