As I said, "global warming" is a U.N. power grab tactic, and a vehicle for liberals to consolidate power and raise your taxes.

As I said, human-caused global warming denial is a fossil fuel producer money grab tactic, and a vehicle for the anti-science crowd to bond by having a good laugh about those dumb old scientists and their silly data.

pkronfield, what a clever piece of satire. So much so that one could almost come to believe that you actually believe what you are saying.

No satire, Toad. The only thing that can be said with any certainty is that climate is ever changing. Another thing that can be said with certainty is the amateur attempts to model it and skew the unreliable or incomplete/erroneous data are laughable. And finally, no matter what the climate is doing, man's influence is negligible and there is nothing man can do now or in the foreseeable future to do anything about it.

The whole issue is hysteria whipped up by liberals to gain power and increase taxes.

Dammit, I'm a liberal!

When do I start getting my checks? When are my comrades going show up and put me in charge of the Department of Messing Up Honest Business or the Agency of Taking Hard Earned Money Away From Rich People?

Yeah, be sarcastic. Then reflect on Jimmy Carter's 18% runaway tax and spend interest rates that hurt everyone across the spectrum - rich, poor, middle class. Reflect on Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" that re-enslaved blacks to welfare checks and denied them the ability to think for themselves and work for a living, and brought them the misery of drugs and fatherless families doomed to crime, prostitution, welfare state, grinding out as many babies as they could to increase the welfare checks. This is the fruit of liberalism. Prisons full of blacks. Cities like New Orleans unable to help themselves because of ineffectual and ignorant mayors and governors and apathetic welfare state i...

While you may have some valid points about so-called liberals, your own hysteria and your blindness to, or endorsement of the wrongs of so-called conservatives is disturbing, to say the least.

To get back on point, man-made global warming predictions are not the product of politicians. Just because Al Gore is trying to increase public awareness does not mean he made up the problem. It's fine if you ignore Gore, but please also try to ignore the pseudoscince and propaganda coming from those with vested interests in continued fossil fuel combustion.

Learn about the science.

No one's saying pollution and use of fossil fuel isn't something to try to reduce significantly. The silly part is that it's ALL man's fault (not Big Al's fault of course) and that anyone of us can make that big of an impact we can restore the "proper" global temperature.

You successfully mischaracterized both sides of the debate, UpStateMike. I guess a straw man is even easier to blow down when you think you're Godzilla.

I work with a company with 300 PhD's, including atmospheric scientists. We all are of one mind (I'm a physical oceanographer) that the whole thing is nonsense, based on bad assumptions with faulty data sets, placed into flawed models. Have you ever heard the adage "garbage in, garbage out"? All scientists are intimately aware of this principal. The whole global warming debate is rubbish. The facts are, the planet may be experiencing an infinitesimal positive fluctuation in temperature, and man could have a slight role in this, which is debatable, but even if all this were true, which it isn't, there is nothing within man's power to reverse or even slow it, even if we returned to pre-ind...

It's a liberal snow job to get votes and power, pure and simple
Speaking as a liberal, once again, how is this going to get me power?

As to your 300 PhDs, that doesn't prove much. I work in an organization with 140 PhDs -- a small college. For all we know, you might work in some sort of fossil-fuel exploration outfit. If something like that were the case, hypothetically, it wouldn't be particularly surprising that the staff would have a fair amount invested in disproving the global warming idea -- and thus ironically you'd be the one standing to gain from distorting the science, hypothetically.

My point is -- vague claims of expertise don't mean much. "Follow the mon...
