Christianity started in Palestine as a fellowship; it moved to Greece and became a philosophy; it moved to Italy and became an institution; it moved to Europe and became a culture; it came to America and became an enterprise." -Sam Pascoe

Maybe she was cursed by an evil witch and they should bring back the Inquisition with all its torture techniques, and round up the local miscreants. Those who "confess" become the main meal at the Bingo and BBQ.
Stupid idiots!

I'm waiting for St. Efrain to ride in here in defense of the church.

Ha, you knew I was coming!

First of all, the young girl was not excommunicated.

Secondly, why are a bunch of unbelievers concerned about excommunication if they don't believe in the communion of the Church to begin with?

Thirdly, why are the most horrifying points in this case overlooked? Why are we not appalled that the step-father had molested this girl and her older sister for years without the mother's defense? I find it hard to believe that a mother would be unaware of abuse under her roof for years.

Why are we not appalled at the fact that the girl's mother insisted on the abortions (set of twins) against the biological father's will? Brazilian law requires consent by both biolo...

Sorry but I have lived in a Catholic country for over 30 years where the Catholic Church was one of the greatest supporters of Franco during his dictatorship and I have seen what a powerful religion can do to a country!!! Don't preach to me please on what good and bad the Catholic church can do (or any other organised religion come to that, from Judaism to all other Christian options, Muslims..... etc). When people learn to love and respect one another and stop trying to control others, this world will be a nicer place to live in!!

People are horrified Efrain, but the Church just made things worse, not better, that is what the clip is pointing too. But I see the Church must be defended at all costs, no matter how wrong it is.

Good luck with that.

I didn't answer Efrain merely because religion rarely listens to reason, specially when it wants to control people. Instead of defending unborn babies why are the Catholics not defending the starving in poor countries and sharing their wealth with them. My mother said, correctly so that the Catholic Church is the biggest business in the world which accumulates wealth but doesn't share it. Why do I care about the excommunication? Put yourself in the place of the people who decided to help the girl and don't judge them, that is God's work and what we do wrong in this life we pay for, we do not need to be punished by fellow men. We are all One and should remember that when we hurt others a...

Why do we overlook that the only persons other than the biological father, supported the girl with daily visits and encouraged her during this difficult time was a Catholic Priest? The parish Priest fought along side the Children's Council who sought the welfare of the children.
A priest with an agenda to make a nine-year-old rape give birth.

Dress it up in all the sanctimony and "care for the children" you like, the priest and his whole hierarchy were trying to browbeat a nine-year-old rape victim into giving birth with threat of God's vengeance.

You remove a comment that shows your clip title is a lie?

No Antara!!! I remove someone who is tracking me simply for the sake of giving me a hard time. If you can't read between the lines that is YOUR PROBLEM not mine. Now please get off my back!!!

She was not.

I really do not care if the girl was excommunicated or not!!! The very fact that she is not allowed to abort is just as bad as the rape!!!
7-20-2009 11:44 AM

No the clip doesn't say she was excommunicated Antara, now read the damn clips and don't just fix on my name on the damn clip to reject it as crap!!!

What kind of lunacy is this? Not only was she raped by someone under her care, but her two unborn children were permitted to be murdered by their own grandmother! Is rape a more horrendous crime or is the fact that her two children were murdered legally is permissable more reprehensible?

You can brainwash those who will follow you but not those who have their own beliefs. While the planet is over populated and people are starving to death why bring a child into this world who will be hated for what it represents and make a 9 year old child suffer the pain of giving birth to a child produced by rape and not love.

Now go brainwash the sheeple and leave me alone please

the sun is out
The only thing we have to concern our selves is the CHILD!!! I totaly agree with the clip and I do not aggree with the negetive comments going to brightlight4, the mother was correct!!! and let the CHILD have a childhood!!! the people with the negitive comment should then put their hands into their pockets and pay for the birth and look after them for life!!! or just but out!!! there far to many people who make rightious comments but then fail to pay for their opinions.

Not only that Sun Is Out, when abortion is illegalised because of these anti abortion people all that they achieve is for abortion to go underground and into back rooms where all kinds of techniques are used and a lot of money is made under the table. Is that what they want? The money paid under the table?

was the father arrested?

Yes. Allegedly he was paying the child for sex. http://www.global-sisterhood-network.org/content/view/2287/59/

The pregnancy was discovered when the child complained of PAIN and she was taken to a doctor for examination.

The Catholic Church's silence on the step-father's sin is shocking: no calls for excommunication. If someone can find proof of the wrath of the church coming down on his head, please post it.

it is never licit to eliminate the life of an innocent person to save another life
This policy pits the innocent against the innocent and in the end who is the winner? What must it be like to have the power to make policy without accountability? A church-business run by men who will never father children nor have the responsibility of parenting children, expected a 9-year old girl to give birth to babies forced upon her by rape,i.e. without her consent. And during the birthing, the girl, the babies or all three could have died. What authority grants the "Holy See" providence over a life and body of young girl who at 4'4" weights only 79 pounds? A host of wicked men have hid b...

sarahmurren - as far as I can find out, he is still welcome in the Catholic Church. See my comment above yours. Click see more for links to the latest and more on this tragic story.
