just because i'm popping this doesn't mean i understand it. just means i think it sounds really cool and think that other people who are smarter than me will want to see it. Let me try to explain it in layman terms. Quantum physics examine particles that are equivalent of the size of Moon compared to the size of Milky way because in bigger "chunks" of matter as the article says "thermal vibrations destroy the quantum effects" rendering them not observable by any equipment available now. Apparently chilling large "chunks" of matter to extreme temperatures minimizes the thermal vibration so that quantum effects could be observed and measured on a larger scale. If you want to know more about quantum physics i would suggest watching the Elegant Universe series. It is available freely on the net, just Google it. I posted this article because I thought to concept alone was easily to understand, if not the mechanics involved. The idea of making something appear in two places, visible to the human eye, is just an amazing concept. If it's any consolation, I'm no physicist, but I do sort of understand the principles... That's incredible! Quantum physics large scale! Who'd have guessed it? |
