I'm not a big Obama supporter because of his stance on the military, but what i saw in him during that last speech was impressive--he was riht on about race in this country and has a unique viewpoint because of his lineage and upbringing. At least he is very honest and forthcoming.

I like the title of this clip therefore I popped it.

I will never understand Republicans and Democrats; I have read articles that differentiate between the two but still I have no clue.

Can I get some facts straight…?
Are there only two parties that run for presidency?
Once a democrat always a democrat and vice versa?
Does this mean when you are a Republican or Democrat that you have made up your mind on a topic before you have heard what the topic is about?

Brimstone, honey, are you for real??? *LOL*
I'll assume you are.

1. No. Ross Perot ran for President in 1992 as an independent candidate. He received 19 percent of the vote--one of the largest percentages ever for an independent candidate. He ran again in 1996 on the reform party ticket. Ralph Nader ran on the green party ticket in 2000 and it's been hotly debated that was a factor in putting George Bush in the White House.

2. No matter where you are located in the union, you can register to vote or change your party affiliation at any time.
3. hahahahaha, Rat is correct, maybe.

It says certain things were said and then concludes dishonestly that the things said by Falwell, and Robertson are similar to Wright's remarks and have similar meanings as per anti-Americanism,
Your right. Fallwell and Robertson are worse.

and fails to consider the huge difference between someone who goes to a
church for 20 years and calls the Pastor a mentor and the normal
political posturing that candidates MUST do if they are ever to get
elected.
So one must ignore the hypocracy of a politcian that claims to ride the straight talk express and once called men such as Reobertson and Farrakahn the agents of intolerance (and rightly so) but attack the honesty of...

What makes Wright comments anti-American while Robertson's are not?

As for mentors, my parents have said pretty outrageous things, yet they are my mentors. I don't share their views and will correct them when I can, but I won't disown them.

And I was not invoking any conspiracy, but you don't get the best leaders who are willing to do anything and everything just for political expediency.
3-22-2008 12:59 PM

I don't think they are pro-American, in any percentage. Don't confuse their nativism and jingoism for sincerity or true support for their country.

And I don't think the disagreement has to be, shall we say, violent. Mentors come and go. I think it was imprudent of him to say "God Damm America!". That is a slap on the face on all Americans, at the very least a poor choice of words. But on balance what he said was true, truer than anything that has come out of the mouths of people like Robertson, Hagee or their ilk.
3-22-2008 1:41 PM

You have announced that your judgment of what is pro American is direct revelation from God I take it.
HA! Wait...HAHAHAHA!!! (gasp!) HA!...(cough...cough...cough)...

Ok, I got that out of my system....

No one can be that arrogant, except Robertson, who claims to have a direct 1-800 line to the Almighty. I would presume such a privilege. Sounds like, oh I don't know...blasphemy...God and I are tight, but c'mon!

Because I don't think you'll find many Americans agreeing with you.
I imagine not, but then again, it depends who you ask. The people who wrote the article above are Americans, and they seem to agree with me.

You see you ignore what the term ...

Well now Yance,
Now that I've finished my spring cleaning for today and installed a brand new range hood (stainless steel and quiet I might add) lemme put my I'm a hell of a woman's two cent's worth in if I may.
I clipped this because I thought after years of the religious right cramming down our throats nonsense like this:
Homosexuals want to come into churches and disrupt church service and throw blood all around and try to give people AIDS and spit in the face of ministers.
Reverend Pat Robertson
The 700 Club, January 18, 1995
that is was just a tad hyprocritcal to try to stir a fuss over what Wright had to say. That doesn't mean I'm not a Hillary sup...

So now we get to the heart of the question. That was not in any of the video clips I seen. I think some African-American would feel that Bill did dick them over. I'm in no position to opine on that particular score.

As for Jesus been black, he was semitic, so neither he was black or white, at least not as understood in the U.S. He was killed by the Romans, who where Latins, of Mediterranean/Caucasian persuasion. But then again that is blood libel of sorts, the way Jews have been accused for centuries of murdering Christ. Neither one is correct, and like I said I don't agree with that statement or some others.

But that makes him more or less anti-American than the other pastors? If anythi...

Well,
I see your point Yance, but I was more or less speaking to the hypocrisy that I see in the religious right and also the rise of religious fundamentalism. I will always speak out when I see what I feel is rigidity, domination, and exclusion.

OH heck yeah,
Betty Crocker is alive and well! Check it out.

http://www.bettycrocker.com/Products/SuperMoist-Cakes/

I'll tell you what, the cookbooks can't be beat. I bought one on Amazon by a seller for dirt cheap. And I heard that same story about the egg in the mix somewhere but I can't remember where, maybe tv?

I am sorry I was being so incorrigible earlier Yance. I installed that new range hood which is stainless and looks so good in my kitchen and OMG! new appliances have the strange effect of turning me on

Aww, your very welcome. The "Freudian influence" comment rang a bell. Adam Curtis had made another excellent series called The Trap. If you haven't seen it, it's well worth the watch too.

Oh ok!!!

Thanks TN! You guys gotta realize I'm just a simple little country gal who likes new appliances, cake mix, and lying out on a hammock on a warm day feeling the sun on my shoulders. My average IQ gives me a headache when I try to go too deep. But I think I've got a good heart (I try).

Adam Curtis has a mastery of capturing the paranoid moments of human expression doesn't he?
Yes, he does and the background music underscores the cynical nature of game theory too. The movie sure does give one food for thought, eh? About politics and the nature of the freedom we have... or haven't. I need to watch it again too though. IMO, game theory is a little too cynical and relies too much on, that humans will always or mostly make rational choices. Which I don't think they do. People can't be summed up in numbers. The experiment where all 12 of the secretaries at Rand who behaved unselfishly (after 17 minutes, pt 1 already ) was a hint that altruism and trust and un...

Agreed! Some form of mutual "tools of power" equilibrium is only to be expected, if we are to stay safe from each other. (But I bet my hammer drill is bigger than yours though. *LOL*) Depending on your arsenal, I might feel the need to proliferate my weapons of mass construction though.
