CrazyRedHead says: "Attacks plummet as Shias join Sunnis in neighbourhood patrols to tackle militants and reunite communities" Few months ago as the surge was being debated I can't count how many times I was told by surge critics that Iraqis are incapable of working together and we should just let them die in their civil war, no way should we put US soldier in harms way for them since there was no hope for them. I am glad they are coming together. Remind you at all of the 'Red Berets' assembled on the East Coast and I believe also, Chigago many years ago. Once removed from politics, policing and peacekeeping become quite easy. Of course any drop in violence is welcome , but is what is happening at the moment really "good news" or is it just storing up more trouble for the future? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7157581.stm |
