The greatest thing about dogs is that they never blame. They always love you and are loyal to you, even when you are not there.

I had a dog for 10 years, Now that he has left for God, My heart still waits in silence, It has been years now - yet a day has to go by - when I dont think of him.

Somehow he has left his body and left earth to start living in my heart. These dogs are crazy for sure.

I've always been a cat person... and watching people in NYC trying to live in tiny apartments with dogs, having to go home to walk them, having to pick up after them... I've always thought they were so much hassle compared to a cat.

But stories like this make you fully appreciate the kinship a dog can offer.

Maybe the dog was meeting his master, but only the dog could see him.

[Animals] are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations caught with ourselves in the net of life and time. (Henry Beston)

There are two things for which animals are to be envied; they know nothing of future evils, or of what people say about them. (Voltaire)

The more I see of men, the more I admire dogs. (Mme de Roland)

My older cat actually was my wife's cat. When she died, he sat vigil at the front door, waiting for her, every day starting at 4:30 PM. He kept this up until I moved.
