I clipped this same article quite awhile ago and I thought Michael Moore had some really good things to say. Sometimes some of the clips I consider to be the best never get popped (Wonder why that is?) Thing that most people forget, in ww2 their wasnt someone jumping down your back if you flatened a town to get to your target. Most of the march to victory in ww2 had maddive civillian casulties and collatrial damage, including flattening many cities. If they had the same limitations in ww2 as they do now, we would still probably be fighting ww2 today. *SIGH maddive = massive, I will learn to type ...we would still probably be fighting ww2 today. That's very optimistic. More likely that we'd be deutsch sprachen und judenfrei. I'm noticing that alot of fluff gets popped, debbyski. Re other comments: anything else in MM's letter that struck you? *LOL* GD, I like your style. my comment above was meant for M's comment. Some pops seem to take time to develop. I think when people pop a pop they like, then they are curious to see who else popped things and what they might like. They read your clips that you may have clipped a while ago, then pop something old. Turnover is quick here and if you are not a regular (ie check as much as you checkk your email) you could really miss the good stuff until you peep at other clippers stuff. I bet there is a lot of really good clips that I am missing from other clippers. You need to check New Clips with the All Clips option selected. That is the only way to see clips over the pop limit anymore. Something else that I do, especially if I've not checked The Clip for a while, is do as suggested above and keep clicking "next 100" until I get to where I left off. Tedious. I really am hoping for the long requested option of being able to go to a specific time or date to be a reality soon, or at least some method more efficient than the current. Thanks, GD. I'm just finding my way around here. Do a search of the tag "Clipmarks" and you'll find lots of additional useful info. Thorne, Some points in MM's letter that I thought were really good were the fact that the utter failure of this war is in no way the fault of the troops, and that there are many other ways to liberate a country, and the fact that this country has done nothing to liberate itself, therefore, attacking them with the intent to liberate will never work. I think he is right by saying if we could help them by overthrowing a tyrant, then we should leave after doing so. deb, I love MM's style/ He is compassionate to the individual, and the "lil folks", but relentless with the "deciders" Let's not forget that this war has changed it's purpose over and over. Now, it's a civil issue (now that Bin Ladin hasn't been "caught", now that the Al Quaida isn't torturing and murdering women (???!!!), now that we know there are not hidden caches of nuclear weapons..... I mean, c'mon!! Hasn't anybody read "1984"?? Talk about shades of George Orwell. Disinformation abounds, and we lap it right up... *yikes!! *blinks and steps off the soapbox* sorry! *smile* Nothing like comparing apples to oranges. Then again, Moore's never been so hot with relating to fact based arguments. Okay - differences between now and then: 1) 00.4% of the US population is fighting this war, versus 6.00% back then. About 1.5 million actually active duty, maybe another 1.5 million FBI and other tasked intel assets. 2) In-your-face media coverage is really bringing the violence into our living rooms where censorship didn't allow that. Could you see Ike remaining as Supreme Allied Commander if it was known the very next day that over 1000 men died in the D-Day rehearsal? He wouldn't have stood a chance, and neither would anyone else in that kind of scrutiny. ... Good thing I got off of my soapbox...I see somebody else needed it! *s* Thank you for commenting. |
