I'm so proud that the Democrats gave up the good 'ol boy southern wing of their party. Lyndon Johnson knew that supporting civil rights would endanger the Democratic party in the south but he embraced it anyhow.

Goldwater, Nixon, and Reagan all embraced the "states rights" Southern Strategy of Strom Thurmond the segregationist.

It's the Republicans burden now. I laugh every time I hear Republicans of today claiming to be the party of Lincoln. He's twisting in his grave for sure.

The real question is,

"Will conservatives apologize for slavery?"

slavery is a deep issue that a meaningful percentage of americans, roughly 13-14%, deal with. even today in 2008. you see, slavery set back an entire culture of human beings hundreds of years. to me, it's like entering a game of monopoly after your peers have been playing for hours and have bought up 90% of the property and now you enter the game. yeah, its possible to still compete or even win, but it's extremly difficult. and when i say compete or win, i'm talking about competing with the johnson and johnson's, the fords, the exxons, you know, the old money that was earned because you got to play monopoly from the beginning, not the end. nobody needs to apologize to anybody, but aknowledge...

Oh Willhem, I didn't know you cared. How sweet that you seek reparations for my people. I'm so looking forward to my 40-acres and a mule. You are now on my Christmas card list. KISSES!
