kelvin273 says: If a fair number of evangelicals were to actually vote for a liberal like Obama in the general election, that would mark a sea change in U.S. politics. I can't help but worry that Hell would also freeze over. I can't help but worry that Hell would also freeze over.Wouldn't that be a good thing? I can`t see how people believe abortion is murder. But sending them to Iraq to die for nothing is alright. And torture is ok too. Didn`t Jesus die from torture? Only if you're an unbeliever. :~) Evangelicals voting for Obama?? Not likely. One day we need to have a description of recognized/traditional 'evangelicalism'. Those who are being placed into that category would not be *called* by that name by 'traditional' evangelicals. Hey! I just looked at the article. CNN is equating Roman Catholics with Evangelicals. Not the same. And they are describing them as 'regular church-goers'...not the same thing. They are lumping all Christians under the term "evangelical" and that's not true. Catholics aren't even close to Evangelical trash. Like so many similar terms the term "evangelical" is "in the mind of the beholder". God knows how many who go by that name would actually qualify for it in its original intent, which was to describe people who believed in the "evangelion", i.e. the "good news" as Jesus viewed his message. But it's only natural for those who follow Jesus' message and example to be liberals just as Jesus was. See the whole of my LiberalsLikeChrist.org site, but http://LiberalsLikeChrist.Org/Christlike in particular, which shows how very liberal Jesus Christ was. I'd always heard there was this bloc of "liberal evangelicals" whose only issue with the Democratic Party was abortion, but I wonder how big this bloc really is. Thus the comment about hell freezing over. |
