Quite often leads to a point of no return. Our prisons are filled with people because of loss of control of these these negative emotions. The first step in institutionalizing hatred is marginalizing the target group - cast them as less than human, inferior, menacing - creating an us vs. them mentality. Indeed - how many times did Bush tell us Saddam was evil and we were good? Perhaps likewise, a first step in de-institutionalizing hatred could be genuine dialog - listening with respect. It is with willpower and self discipline that like the Buddhist we must resist the first instinctive response and try think again our immediate responses.Your experiences and mine cant be the same and our view points on issues can be coloured from different experiences.I have learnt from your clips on Kindness and altruism that it requires more will power and mental toughness to (Richard Davidson) enact a prosocial emotion.Also I can assume that your opportunities re education you appreciate may not have been available to others of us and naturally our view of the world we learn are based on those personal challenges we,ve faced.Though I love and respect your all encompassing inclusion and ... |
