bignosemousie says: Linguistic integrity is as important to our survival as a species as environmentalism. Check out the source to see why. Many resources and information at www.terralingua.org. Great clip, Mousie! Thanks! You might like this one too. Hey it's part of my college thesis The thought that the concern is being discussed outside the academe is so lovely.Well, you know Kore and I are smartypants. Ha! Seriously, please add your knowledge here! I hadn't even heard of this idea before today. An essential ingredient in cooperation, is communication. The net means there is both direct translation, and direct relation by example,There are languages which directly translate a phrase so that an Idea can be expressed, or there are diagrams, graphs, pictorial translation, which can communicate the same idea to people of another language. We repeat what we hear, and we can adopt words and phrases from other languages due to things like trademark or onamatapoeia, (sounds good so we'll use it) We need to be able to talk to anyone globally, and have a means of understanding them. There will always be dialects, and core languages, maintained by dedicated linguists. As we begin to understand... Due to the web we have the ability to record, catalog, detail the history, and bring to the attention of the general public, examples of languages that are obsolete, in danger, or are being smothered by a tendency towards a single language. People's minds are being retrained to accept more open ideas. My teacher once told me that the language lessons at school, may help me understand the news, but to really learn, I needed to go to the place it was spoken. The web virtually makes that possible. What is most remarkable about evolution, is that can continue to surprise us with unimaginable results. Always enjoy your comments, pokkets. You give me (us) much to think about. |
