Popped for naughty christian girls. The fantasy can live on.

But in all seriousness interesting clip.

When morals are imposed from the outside by indoctrination they don't stick quite so well as the ones that we come up with ourselves.

The Evangelical Christian Fundamentalist penchant for domination of the individual with the dogma of the collective creates moral weakness not strength. After all, what will they do when they think no one is looking? (And sex, for those of you who don't know, normally happens when no one is looking.) Also, many of these people grow up to try to find caveats and try to rationalize their transgressions, and create an exception for themselves, thinking it is the rule that is important not the principle.

And then, should these people ever begin to think for them...

I think its more for the danger like "can I get away with it." Most people want what they can't have.

Obviously, their method for teaching their children values has some very serious flaws.
The problem being, the method doesn't "teach" them anything. It simply mandates, without giving any sound justification besides "you're bad if you do, you're good if you don't."

Well, another major flaw, or at least I've always thought so, is that it isn't consistent:

They tell their kids "sex is bad, and you are a bad person if you have it. but once you are married sex is good and you have to have it, as your duty." The idea that sex can simultaneously be absolutely good and absolutely bad is absurd. However a situational justification of it is simply self-contradictory.

Perhaps if instead they taught things like commitment and respect, then kids would come a little closer to understanding the true nature of sex and the true value of committed relationships. Not that understanding is their goal... but a little bit wouldn't hurt! In fact, it just might help!
