What a gem of a find here. I was just searching for something like this topic and somehow missed the clip. Yet, I didn't think to search for the scientific method. Anyone know if there is some way to add other peoples clips to a personal collection? in the upper right corner, there's a button 'ADD'. click that, add some tags if you want; click 'SAVE'; et voila : my clip is your clip. Here, allow me, Haha, I have got to laugh at myself for somehow missing the obvious. If it were a snake, it would have biten me. The biggest problem with logical arguments I have had, is the inclusion of an unrecognized assumption. Sometimes this can be because it was learned so early that it is either seen as fact, or is otherwise unquestioned. There can also have been little evidence, that the assumption is untrue. While it's existence may not be a problem, If it becomes the factor in an argument it needs to be examined critically, considering the effect, and the chance that the course of the argument may confirm or refute the assumption. We have to be careful not to let our imaginations create facts that don't exist. Logic is the instrument, imagination provides the lighting. We just have to make sure we know what is in the shadows. |
