This from an Israeli paper, per Western Intel sources. This is a covert "preventive war" (the doctrine Bush began with the neoconservatives), and not just against Iran.

Bottom line is that Israel is trying to provoke open war with Iran, baiting a retaliation from these covert attacks which then would be blamed on Iran as the "aggressor" (as they did with Gaza, Lebanon, etc.). This is their standard M.O..

This also shows that the US is involved in a "proxy war" for Israel (a term the US employs only toward Iran), not a "war on terror":
